Brisbane Airport: offering superb connections between Queensland and the rest of the world

Brisbane Airport (BNE), Queensland’s busiest airport by some way, welcomed a record-breaking 23.1 million passengers in 2017, placing it third overall in terms of passenger numbers carried by Australian airports. Its extremely extensive domestic network (over 50 routes) is a major factor in this, with 4.7 million passengers flying to and from Sydney alone in 2017. Its global coverage is symbolized by its top three international routes, one to Australasia (Auckland), one to Asia (Singapore) and one to North America (Los Angeles). The fourth most popular destination is Dubai, from where connecting flights to virtually all European countries are an option. Air France’s Brisbane-Paris/Paris-Brisbane route connects in a range of cities, from Singapore to Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi to Tokyo. From Paris Charles de Gaulle, there are hundreds of onward flights to choose from on the Air France network.

Passengers on flights leaving from Brisbane Airport (BNE) may catch a glimpse of some of the 22,000 solar panels installed on airport property (producing around 18% of the airport’s needs); the electric bus fleet of shuttle buses or even the hives housing honey bees, which make the airport’s very own brand of honey!

For a short time in the early 1940s, Brisbane was the busiest submarine port in the world and home to tens of thousands of US servicemen.

Brisbane Airport (BNE) lies just off the M1 (exit 108/Moreton Dr. from either the north or south) and is also accessible via the Airportlink/M7. Parking options include Airpark (cheaper long-term parking with free shuttle bus to both terminals), two multi-level car parks at the domestic terminal and one at the international terminal, accessible and over-height parking and valet/premium parking (all within walking distance of their respective terminals). A free waiting area for domestic terminal pick-ups offers you 30 minutes’ free parking.

A specific terminal transfer bus operates between the two terminals.

The Airtrain runs all the way from Varsity Lakes to both the domestic and international terminals, 7 days a week. From Central Station the journey takes 20 to 25 minutes.

Local buses (route 590) run to the Toombul Interchange station and the Skygate Centre, from where you can catch the Skygate Loop service to both terminals (a 10 to 20 minute-journey).
